Jack Andrews bought his first team of registered Haflinger mares in 2007.

In 2008, he purchased a third mare and a stallion and then a fourth breeding mare in 2009.

He has been breeding and raising Haflingers ever since, but he has been around horses and has had an eye for exceptional breeding since he was a young boy.

His father handed him the lines to a six horse hitch of hackney/welsh ponies when he was 14 on the way into the show ring and immediately his passion was solidified.

His grandfather used to race horses, his uncle was a blacksmith and his father found great joy in hitching up the horses for a sleigh ride or a wagon ride.

Growing up on a dairy farm, Jack learned his way around farm animals with a particular love for horses. He has developed a keen eye and a sensitive spirit to understand how horses think and how they express themselves.

In the past 15 years, he has bred and raised some of Ontario’s finest Haflinger horses, with several being sold to some top hitches in the USA. Jack specifically loves the Haflinger breed because of its versatility and the gentle spirit and level headedness of most Haflingers.

In his “spare time”, he has built a successful general contracting business and has built many custom homes over the past 35 years in Simcoe County, Ontario.

He married his wife, Gayle, 35 years ago and has 3 grown children and two grandchildren. He has a farm just west of Orillia where he operates a small beef farm and raises his horses.

He has served on the Canadian Haflinger Executive for 10+ years now in several capacities.

Currently he is the breed rep for Ontario. His keen eye for distinguishing features and details makes it hard for Jack to forget a Haflinger or their parentage.

His area of service to the Haflinger community intersects precisely where his passion lies and where his gifts and talents are most helpful.

Jack would be honoured and privileged to continue to serve the Haflinger community as a member of the executive.

Merci beaucoup!

With this letter I would like to introduce myself to those of you who don't know me.

My husband Robin and I immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in 2011. We live on a farm in Rainier, a small town in Southern Alberta and absolutely love it.
We have two wonderful kids, a son of 8, Thys. And a daughter of 7, Marley.
I brought my two horses from Holland when we moved, Emore and Arco, my now 19 year old Fjord.

I know the Haflinger breed since I was a little girl and first started riding at the age of 5. Because the Haflinger is so trustworthy, quiet and versatile they are very suitable as kids horses and this makes them very popular in Holland. You see the Haflingers there like you see Quarter horses here.

In 2017 we had the opportunity to buy our first Haflingers, this grew into the wonderful herd and breeding program we have today. Alberta Family Horses is an all Canadian registered breeder with currently 5 mares and 2 stallions for breeding and some young Haflingers for our program in the future. We expect 4 foals in 2023.

Last year we made multiple families new and proud Haflinger owners and we can't wait to get all horse loving Canadians hooked on Haflingers.

I have been an active director on the CHA board for the past 3 years and would love to continue my role as director and one of the breed reps for the Western region. It is my pleasure to assist CHA members and Haflingers owners with Haflinger related questions and paperwork, re-homing their Haflinger or searching for their perfect Haflinger.

Projects I started in the last 3 years are the CHA calendar, Facebook photo contest, SCC/ PSSM1 testing and sponsorship from Nag Bags.

Thank you,

Pascalle Wisse
